Aracne is fully in line with the concept of social innovation promoted by the European Union, as:
- It arises from a social need
- It involves and mobilises civil society
- It promotes its capacity for action and organization
- It designs effective resources where both market and traditional policies fail
Women have been particularly hit by unemployment, demobilization and stagnation, with unemployment rates out numbering men’s ones, with fewer job opportunities, increased underemployment and a heavier workload at home. Current occupational and insertion policies and practices seem to have lost much of their effectiveness as resources, policies and practices for sustainably re-entering the workforce.
The Aracne Project
Aracne is a project co-financed by the European program Erasmus+ / Formation of adults whose goal is to design, based on the existing best practice in Europe, an integrated model that combines vocational
training, personal empowerment and promotion
of self-employment among women in labour and social exclusion situations.
The learning model will be developed based on real business activities in the field of customisation of fabrics and objects.
Objectives
- Compile and gather existing innovative
initiatives in Europe that combine vocational training with personal empowerment processes and/or promotion of entrepreneurship. - Select the best practices in this field highlighting its innovative features, impacts and ilimitations.
- Develop an innovative model of training intervention and promote its development in different contexts.
The model is intended to improve opportunities for professional development focused on women, but it will also be applied to other groups with special difficulties of insertion in today’s labour market.
